BJP gets down to business for 2016 polls
Several new committee including the election manifesto committee have been formed to help the leadership firm up the poll issues
Chennai: The state unit of the BJP has got down to the serious business of drawing up strategies for the upcoming Assembly elections. Several new committee including the election manifesto committee, issues-documentation and public meetings have been formed to help the leadership firm up the poll issues.
For the first time, the party had identified certain sectors like self help groups (SHGs), holding rallies, senior citizens, non governmental organisations (NGOs), identifying core issues and documentation, among others, to bestow more attention on these segment. “It is very vital to identify the potential sections which could give the BJP the much needed leverage during the Assembly election,” a senior leader in the party explained.
Determined to enter the state Assembly in good numbers this time at least, party president Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan, who has been hectically touring Tamil Nadu, says her party would focus on developing the southern districts. “We have formed 38 committees to face the elections scheduled for next year and are in the process of preparing the election manifesto. We will focus on people’s issues and also strive for development in the southern districts,” she said.
She exuded confidence that the saffron party would emerge as “a big alternative force” post the elections. The party’s leadership, who will take a call on the poll alliance in Tamil Nadu, would work with renewed vigour in the election bound TN after the Bihar election.
While senior leader and national executive committee member L. Ganesan has been made in-charge of training, national secretary H. Raja has been made incharge of election manifesto committee while vice president Vanathi Srinivasan is incharge of issues documentation. Party’s national General Secretary P. Muralidhar Rao who will be in the city on Monday will review the state unit’s preparedness for elections.
