Staff panel says no to November deadline

AP and Telangana state governments were raising objections

Hyderabad: The Centre has asked the C.R. Kamalnathan committee to complete the division of employees between Telangana state and Andhra Pradesh by the end of November 2015. The committee, however, has replied that it cannot meet the deadline, sources said.

There are about 90 departments to divide between the two states. Sources said that the committee has divided the employees about 33 departments, to which both state governments had agreed. These details have been sent to the Union department of personnel training to issue final notification.

The Kamalnathan committee will hold meetings from September 28 to 30 to finalise the division of employees in some more departments, it is learnt. Sources said that the AP and Telangana state governments were raising objections regarding some departments.

In some cases, like the police department, the Telangana state government had gone back on its agreement with the AP government about the division of employees, sources said.
