Open air auditorium work leaves Kowdiar Park ruined
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kowdiar Park, which is renamed now ‘Vivek-ananda Udyanam’, abandoned by the City Corporation continues to be in a shambles as the open air auditorium work drags on causing inconvenience to the public.
HLL Life Care, which has been maintaining the park, abandoned it following the installation of the life-size statue of Swami Vivekananda.
“Instead of owning up the responsibility of taking over the maintenance of the park, the civic authorities are busy with their plan to construct an open air auditorium against the wishes of the residents. The park is being maintained by local residents and elderly people. The civic body has ruined this park. This was one of the well-maintained parks in the city. The work of the open air auditorium has been pending for two years now,” said Kowdiar ward councillor Sathidevi.
However, the authorities claimed that there was an issue with the design of the open air auditorium. “The issue has been sorted out and the contractor has initiated the work,” said an official.
