MT Vasudevan Nair rues loss of values in healthcare
Kozhikode: Jnanpith laureate M.T. Vasudevan Nair has lamented that education and health care had descended into mere money spinning ventures.
He was inaugurating the new building of Government Higher Secondary School, Iringannur, Nadapuram, on Friday.
“Profit has become the sole motive of such institutions. My generation had high social commitment and the education sector was not commercialised then,” he said and added that progressive minds had created centres of learning overcoming countless impediments.
“Still there are groups that serve both education and health care sectors with noble intentions, but the majority of new ventures aim at only financial gains,” he pointed out.
Mr E.K. Vijayan, MLA presided over the function. Noted playback singer Vaikkom Vijayalakshmi was the guest of honour.
