Mattancherry native killed in Saudi bombing

The missile fell on the tent in which they were residing

KOCHI: Mattancherry Panayappilli native Muhammed Farooq, 52, died in a missile attack that took place on the Saudi-Yemen border.

According to reports Farooq, a Saudi citizen and Bangladeshi native were killed in the missile attack on a Saudi police station at Jizan by Huti rebels.

The missile fell on the tent in which they were residing. Another unidentified Malayalee is reported to have got hurt in the attack.

Farooq had been working for the past 24 years as an air-condition technician at Jizan. He is residing there with wife Nadira and children Nada, Ravan, Rinab and Laila.

His eldest daughter Fahida is married and is settled in Mattancherry. Farooq hails from Thalassery but he shifted his base to Mattancherry which is the birth place of his wife Nadira.

The relatives at Mattancherry didn’t have any official information about the death till Friday evening and the authorities in Kochi including the district collector has not yet contacted them with any information.
