Idols face major hurdle on Necklace Road route

One of the main Ganesh immersion routes has not been repaired yet
Hyderabad: The stretch from Minister’s Road to Necklace Road, one of the main Ganesh immersion routes, has not been repaired yet though immersions of idols will begin from Saturday.
The Metro Sewerage Board is laying an underground trunk pipeline opposite P.V. Gyan Bhumi, leaving a single road for the procession. Also, there has been no addition to the four puja material collection centres, which are witnessing heavy rush.
Around 90 per cent of idols from Begumpet, Bowenpally, Paradise, Pattigadda and Prasha Nagar, and areas ahead of the Begumpet police lines take this route. The roads opposite KIMS Hospital-Minister Road, leading to the NTR statue, are damaged. Further, more than a kilometer on Necklace Road, adjacent to the Herbal Garden and Hyderabad Bicycle Club, has been dug up and the stretch is filled with huge pipes. Now, the road is one way opposite P.V. Gyan Bhoomi and Sanjeevaiah Park. The Bicycle Club has been closed for over two months.
Konda Reddy, project director of Metro Sewerage Board, said, “Owing to the rains, the works were stalled for a few days; the contractor has been asked to speed up the works. For the procession, the dug up area will be covered and maximum space will be allotted for vehicles.”
