Court case by residents blocks Krishna Phase 3

Residents of Jubilee Hills have stalled the project stating that the project will be damaging their property
Hyderabad: A petition filed in court by a group of residents of Jubilee Hills is stalling commissioning of the second part of Krishna Phase 3, which was to begin by September end. The petitioners have stated that the works to install the pipeline, from Sahebnagar to Prashasannagar, are damaging their property.
The 45-MGD, second part of the 90-MGD Krishna Phase 3 is meant to serve the area from Prashasannagar to Madhapur and beyond. Now, it cannot be completed unless the Metro Water Board gets clearance from the court.
The Water Board needs to blast a huge rock outside the Rama Naidu Studio to install the pipe. But when Water Board officials started blasting operations, around 30 residents, especially those living near the rock, approached the court and secured a stay order. Work has been stopped at the spot since.
The petitioners stated, “The rock blasting carried out by the Water Board is a threat to our properties, it is also disturbing the serenity of the area. The blasting is causing vibrations, sound and air pollution as well.”
An official of the Water Board operations and maintenance wing said that following talks, the petitioners had agreed to permit the pipeline installation, since it would serve 40 lakh residents in Jubilee Hills division. “Once court permission is secured, the works will be completed,” he said.
Jubilee Hills division, including Prashasannagar, will get 25 million gallons a day once the remaining part of the 45-MGD Krishna Phase 3 is commissioned. Around 65 per cent of Phase 3 will be pumped to this division and the rest of the city — in Rajendranagar and Bandlaguda circles — will get the remaining 20 MGD. Areas such as Madhapur, Serilingampally, Kukatpally and beyond areas will receive regular supply once the scheme is commissioned.
