Congress sees TRS conspiracy
10 to 12 lakh voters shift places annually and their names are deleted and enrolled afresh across the state
Hyderabad: The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee has alleged that the TRS government has hatched a conspiracy to delete the names of 17 lakh voters of Seemandhra origin from the electoral list in Greater Hyderabad.
Telangana Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwarlal stoutly denied the charge and said the voters list was on the EC website and any deletion can be brought to the notice of the CEO. “The Congress allegation is absolutely wrong and baseless. We have deleted the names of 6 lakh voters who migrated from one place to another and enrolled subsequently in the past year in the 24 Assembly constituencies in Greater Hyderabad. No genuine voter has been removed,” Mr Bhanwarlal said.
He said 10 to 12 lakh voters shift places annually and their names are deleted and enrolled afresh across the state. “The list is available on website. Not a single voter has complained to us that their name has been deleted wrongly,” he said.
After TPCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy made the allegation, a Congress delegation led by Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, former minister Danam Nagender, Sudhir Reddy, Banda Kartika Reddy and others met Mr Bhanwarlal and submitted a memorandum in this regard. “GHMC commissioner Somesh Kumar is acting as an agent of the TRS and is hatching a conspiracy to delete voters,” Mr Nagendar said.
