Andhra Pradesh GSDP growth faster than national average
Vijayawada: AP had achieved a 9.72 per cent growth rate in Gross State Domestic Product, which was higher than the national average of 7.1 per cent, said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday, asking officials to implement government plans with better coordination and explore new possibilities to reach the double-digit target.
Releasing the state’s GSDP plan at the Collectors’ Conference here on Friday, Mr Naidu called on the heads of department and collectors to publicise government schemes and its benefits by counter attacking the Opposition “false campaigns.” He said this was the responsibility of the officials of the state administration.
Mr Naidu asked officials to implement plans effectively by evolving best global practices in the next three months.
‘Collector’ to be renamed
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has proposed renaming the post of collector to reflect the full range of duties of the officer.
Mr Naidu said the British had introduced the post only to collect revenue. Addressing the meeting of collecters here, Mr Naidu said now collectors have huge responsibility with magisterial powers. He asked the collectors to involve themselves in development plans instead of simply sending out proposals to the government.
He asked the collectors to utilise the funds, which were allotted by governments, fully. He said the government had noticed that funds had been parked in banks and was not being spent on specified schemes and plans. The CAG audit had revealed this, he added.
