3 Maoists, sympathiser arrested in Malkapalli

ETURNAGARAM: The Eturnagaram police on Friday arrested three Maoists from Chhattisgarh here early on Friday. Confirming the arrests, Rural SP Ambar Kishor Jha said a Maoist sympathiser named Shekhar was also arrested for giving shelter to the trio at his house is Malkapalli village on the border with Karimnagar.
One of the arrested Maoists was identified as Kovasi Ganga, 23, of Nimmalagudem near Kistaram. Underground since 2010, he was assistant commander of the armed squad. Vetti Bheemalu, 20, of Jeeram near Pamedu and Deme Kistaiah, 30, resident of Chandur, Bhopalpatnam, where the others.
All three, based at Chhatisgarh, were members of the Khammam-Karimnagar-Warangal committee and were hiding at Shekar's home. The police reportedly recovered a .303, a carbine, some kit bags and a water can from them. Based on a tip-off, police surrounded Shekhar's house at about 2 am and raided the house and took all four into custody.
Human rights activists demanded that the police present the arrested Maoists in court immediately. They said there was a possibility of the police killing them in encounters.
