The 75-year-old feels the movie will emotionally weaken her and take a toll on her health

While the much-awaited movie Ennu Ninte Moideen hit the screens on Saturday, Kanchanamala, whose life story is depicted in the movie, did not go to the opening show and has in fact vowed to not watch the movie in the near future. The 75-year-old lady, who had a tragic romantic life, found her story being made into a book and now the film. She feels that watching the movie may have an emotional impact and weaken her health.
“I cannot take it emotionally. I am a person with heart problems and my doctor has specifically asked me not to entertain things that will hurt me. I will not be watching the movie at any cost. The movie will emotionally weaken me and at the present condition I cannot do it,” she says.
“I am not in a condition to speak about the movie. My sister is in the intensive care unit and I am not in a mental condition to think about the movie. At present, I have nothing to say about the controversies about the movie either,” she adds.
Kanchanamala was under house arrest for 22 years for loving B.P. Moideen, a social activist in Mukkam in Kozhikode, as their families objected to their relationship. However, the death of Moideen in a boat tragedy shattered Kanchamala, who later attempted to commit suicide. After recovering from the tragedy, she started a charity organisation named B.P. Moideen Seva Mandir at Mukkam. There was a controversy when she came out in protest that the script does not do justice to her story.
