Change of fortune for Nithin

He has been trying to get a breakthrough in films since 2003
Nithin George, familiar to mini screen viewers with his role in the serial Chakravakam, is thrilled with the success of his Kollywood debut Mooch. He will be next seen in the new movie Alaiyin Thisai. Initially, Nithin got very few opportunities, that too, passing shots like the one playing the tabla in the song Ente khalbile from Classmates. After that, he realised the insignificance of such roles and took a firm decision to choose only good offers.
He has been trying to get a breakthrough in films since 2003. He took up a job in a private FM as a music manager as he felt that a media job was closer to the film industry and it would help him build contacts.
When he got the opportunity to act in Chakravakam, he grabbed it soon and made it a platform to hone his acting skills. Even after the huge success of the serial, he rejected all offers from miniscreen as his main focus was movies. He met many filmmakers. Though he was rejected initially, his efforts paid off as he got to play the lead in Mooch. Being the only Malayali in the whole team of Mooch didn’t bother him as he was fluent in Tamil; thanks to all those Tamil movies he watched! The horror flick released in more than 70 theatres in Tamil Nadu and grossed well.
Post Mooch, Nithin starred in a short film Burn My Body directed by his friend Aryan Krishna Menon. It turned out to be the most viewed Malayalam short film in YouTube with over 16 lakh hits. Then he was cast in Lijo Jose Pellissery’s movie Antichrist, which was postponed due to various reasons.
On his current project Oru Alaiyin Thisai, directed by Arun Bose, he says, “It is an independent movie which goes through the cultural, traditional and geographical diversities of Tamil Nadu. This was the most interesting shoot as I got a chance to work with different communities and real people during the shoot. 70 per cent of the shoot has been completed. It will be wrapped up by the end of October.”
So what’s his next mission? “I want to work in realistic movies and do challenging roles. Good movies can be made in any language and I would love to be a part of it. I’m not looking for lead roles. I think, what matters is not the duration but how long a character stays in the minds of the audience,” Nithin signs off.
