No censor for dubbed films
There’s a good market for Tamil dubbed Telugu films in Tamil Nadu
The new decision of the Censor Board to not re-censor dubbed movies which were released before 2011 in any language, has put the Tamil producers in a spot of bother. There’s a good market for Tamil dubbed Telugu films in Tamil Nadu.
By abiding with this rule, about 200 Tollywood films which were bought before 2011, will not see the light of the day, says Prasad of Badrakali Films which is a regular in dubbing T’town’s biggest hits in Tamil and Hindi. He revealed this at the promo of his upcoming Tamil dubbed movie titled Magadheera. The film is a dubbed version of Tollywood super hit multi-starrer Yevadu, which featured Ram Charan, Allu Arjun, Amy Jackson, Shruti Haasan and Kajal Aggarwal.
“These days, Tamil dubbed Telugu movies are having a simultaneous release along with the original version. It’s a nice trend and they also have decent run at the Box Office. The Board’s resolution of not re-censoring dubbed films (which are yet to be released), which have been released in the original prior to 2011, will be a big blow to many producers who have bought several films,” said Rajarajan, who has worked in more than 200 Tamil dubbed Telugu films.
