Special summary revision of electoral rolls in Haryana
Chandigarh: As per the directions of the Election Commission, special summary revision of electoral rolls of all the 90 Assembly constituencies in Haryana will be done with reference to January 1, 2016 as the qualifying date.
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Haryana, Shrikant Walgad said on Thursday that the draft electoral rolls would be published on October 15, 2015. The period for filing of claims and objections would be from October 15 to November 13, 2015.
"Reading of relevant part or section of Photo Electoral Rolls in Gram Sabha or Local Bodies and RWA meeting and verification of names would be done on October 20 and 28, 2015. Special campaign dates for receiving claims and objections would be October 25 and November 8, 2015.
Disposal of claims and objections would take place by December 7 whereas updating of database would be done by December 24, 2015," he said, according to an official release. Final publication of electoral rolls would take place on January 11, 2016, he said.
Walgad said that any person, whose name was not entered in the draft roll and was above 18 years of age on the qualifying date of January 1, 2016 and a citizen of India, was eligible for enrolment as a voter in the roll of the constituency. He said that in this revision campaign, October 25 and November 8, 2015 have been announced as special campaign days. On these days, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) would be available on their respective booths.
The Chief Electoral Officer added that the prime objective of this revision was to prepare an accurate roll complete in all respects with the active cooperation and involvement of electors as well as political parties.
