Will curb Maoist menace, says Telangana DGP Anurag Sharma

DGP was addressing media after launching a Social Media Management Centre at Cyberabad

Hyderabad: Telangana state Director General of Police Anurag Sharma said on Wednesday the state police was firm on curbing the Maoist menace in the state.
He, however, added that there were hardly any extreme Left wing activists in Telangana.

On Hyderabadis being lured into the Islamic State, Mr Sharma said that a few youngsters from the city had been attracted to the global terrorism outfit after they got radicalised by extreme content online. He added that the TS police was trying to monitor such content on social networking sites.

The DGP was addressing the media after launching a Social Media Management Centre at the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate on Wednesday. Mr Sharma, while responding to queries on the recent encounter killings of two Maoists in Warangal, said that though one of the Maoists killed was an MTech student, there was no possibility of extreme Left wing groups recruiting students from campuses.
