AP man among two Indians kidnapped in Libyan town
New Delhi: Two more Indians have been kidnapped in Libya, even as the Indian government has begun efforts to secure their release. The two Indians — Pravash Ranjan Samal, hailing from Odisha, and Ramamurthy Kosanam, a resident of Andhra Pradesh — were kidnapped from Ibn-e-Sina in Sirte where they had been working.
It may be recalled that four Indians had been kidnapped in Libya a few weeks ago, out of which two were released while the other two continue to remain in captivity.
The Indian government had hit a roadblock in securing their release then due to increased fighting between the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group, which is widely believed to be behind the kidnappings, and the followers of former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, who was killed in 2011 by rebels. The MEA said, “It has been learnt by our mission in Tripoli that two Indians have apparently been taken from Ibn-e-Sina in Sirte.”
