TCS techie, bike rider falls into drain, dies
BENGALURU: A 26-year-old software engineer died in a road accident when his bike lost control causing him to fall on to a drain wall sustaining grievous head injuries under Old Airport traffic police station limits in the early hours of Wednesday.
Though he was wearing a helmet, he had not locked its straps and that resulted in him sustaining head injuries, said the police. The deceased has been identified as Subramanyam, a resident of HSR Layout and a native of Hyderabad.
According to the police, Subramanyam worked for TCS Company and he logged out at around 10:00 p.m. from his office and set out to party with his friends in Whitefield. When Subramanyam reached the Outer Ring Road near Kadubisinahalli, his bike brushed on to the curbstones, causing him to fall on to a drain wall where his head hit the edge of the drain, said the police. The incident happened between 3:00 and 3:15 a.m. and few passersby after informing the police, shifted the victim to VIMS Hospital in Marathahalli where he succumbed to his injuries at about 5:30 a.m., added the police.
Subramanyam’s parents who live in Rourkela were informed by the police about the incident. A case of unnatural death has been registered at the Old Airport traffic police station.
In a separate incident, a 20-year-old motorcycle rider, a chips shop staff was killed in a bike accident near Kadirenahalli Park early Wednesday. The deceased, identified as Lokesh, and a resident of Hulimavu, was on the way to open a new chips shop on Bannerghata road, the police said.
Lokesh was a native of Kestur village in Tamil Nadu.
According to the police, when Lokesh reached near Kadirenahalli Park at about 6:45 a.m., he lost control of his bike as he was riding it in a high speed. The bike rammed into the centre median causing the rider to toss and hit a tree that was also growing in the centre median space. He sustained grievous injuries and was shifted by few passerbys to DG Hospital where he was declared brought dead, the police said. His body was later shifted to KIMS Hospital for postmortem. A case of unnatural death has been registered at the Banashankari traffic police station.
