IPS officer threat case: FIR against Mulayam Singh Yadav ordered
156 (3) of the CrPC allows citizens to approach the court if police refuses to register FIR
Lucknow: In a major setback to Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav, a Lucknow court, on Wednesday ordered that an FIR be registered against him for allegedly threatening IPS officer Amitabh Thakur.
Chief judicial magistrate Som Prabha Shukla has asked the Hazratganj police to register a case against Mulayam Singh Yadav and investigate the IPS officer’s allegation that he was threatened on phone by the SP leader on July 10.
Amitabh Thakur, who is presently under suspension, had moved an application under section 156 (3) of the Criminal Procedure Code which allows citizens to approach the court if the police refuses to register an FIR.
