Festive spirit pervades on eve of Ganesh Chaturthi

A festive spirit has already enveloped Visakhapatnam
Visakhapatnam: With merely a few hours left for the Ganesh Chaturthi, a festive spirit has already enveloped Visakhapatnam. On Wednesday, a lot of action was observed in every nook and corner of the city and many youth were seen busy preparing the pandals to make them a cynosure for all eyes. The huge increase in the price of the Ganesh idols and other requisites had not deterreed the festive spirit of the people.
Though many netizens didn’t opt for giant idols this year, the mammoth 80 feet and 111-feet idols in Gajuwaka have already been a talk of the town. An 8,000-kg laddu was set up at a podium near the 80-feet idol to indulge the sweet tooth of Lord Ganesh, which is going to make the festival grand. Kiran of Viswa Team said that the mega laddu was prepared at Tapeswaram in East Godavari.
Small and big pandals set up in every corner had brought festivity and fervour into the city. When this correspondent visited various streets and colonies of the city, the Ganesh pandals across Vizag reflected the culture of the city.
Speaking to Deccan Chro-nicle, Balireddy Raviteja of Young Bullet Boys, who had unveiled a large idol near Marripalem, said, “Though there has been a hike in the cost of the idols, it won’t matter much to the people as everybody wants to get the blessings of the Lord of Obstacles.
Besides the Ganesh idol workshops which have been set up almost three months ago, farmers and other vendors from the neighbouring districts had arrived in the city on Wednesday to sell flowers and leaves that are used in the worship of Lord Ganesh. Sweet shops across the city were also buzzing with activity on Wednesday.
