Dad didn’t know Pansare: Kalburgi’s son
HUBBALLI: On a day when Sameer Gaikwad, a man with links with a right-wing outfit, was arrested in Sangli in connection with the murder of rationalist and veteran Communist leader Govind Pansare, slain litterateur Dr M.M. Kalburgi's son Srivijaya suspected that some high-handed fascist group was involved in the assassination of his father.
Suggesting that the state government should seek the assistance of police officers of Maharashtra, who are probing the murder of other rationalists, Srivijay told Deccan Chronicle that Sameer could disclose about the involvement of other accused in these cases.
He, however, said Dr Kalburgi was never in contact with Mr Pansare, and that he met the rationalist’s kin only when a delegation met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Bengaluru on Tuesday to pressurize him to speed up the probe.
“We hope the government will step up investigation after taking leads from teams investigating similar incidents in the neighbouring state,” he added.
