Senior inspector blames seniors, commits suicide
An SI working in Ranga Reddy district hanged himself to death on a tree
Hyderabad: An SI working in Ranga Reddy district hanged himself to death on a tree. R. Ramesh, a 2012 batch officer, was reportedly depressed due to harassment by his superiors.
Tension mounted at Tandur after relatives and locals protested seeking action against the CIs of Tandur. The protesters stopped the convoy of TS minister Patnam Mahender Reddy who came to pay tributes to the deceased. But, senior police officials said that there was no suicide note and the reason could not be ascertained now.
Ramesh was posted at Yalal police station four months ago and was depressed. His family alleged that he was harassed by his superiors since he belonged to a lower caste. Ramesh’s wife R. Geetha demanded a CID probe into the death and sought action against the CIs of Tandur for harassing her husband.
The suicide is suspected to have occurred on Tuesday night. “He had gone missing from home after 8 pm. Later, he texted his wife saying ‘forgive me’,” said a police official. After Geetha received the message she alerted relatives. They sought police help. Ramesh’s body was found hanging from a tree on Wednesday morning.
Ranga Reddy SP M. Srinivas said there is no evidence of harassment by superiors. “If he was harassed he could have approached me. We are just a phone call away. We are now trying to find out the reason,” he said.
