Crowd-funded Oraalppokkam set for release
Film to be released in at least 15 to 20 theatres across the state on October 2
CR No. 89, Unto The Dusk, Kanyaka Talkies and now Oraalppokkam. Independent movies in Malayalam are finding theatre release one after the other. The film, with Prakash Bare and Meena Kandaswamy playing lead roles, will release in at least 15 to 20 theatres across the state on October 2.
“I am very happy to get a release for my first film,” says director Sanalkumar Sasidharan. “The independent movies which were released earlier had found an audience support in theatres. I hope that continues to be there for my film.”
Oraalppokkam is one man’s search for a woman he loved, through Kedar, a Himalayan valley. Mahandran played by Bare and Maya played by Kandaswamy had split up after five years of living together. Mahendran begins his search for Maya after a call from her and a television report that a Himalayan tsunami had destroyed the entire Kedar valley.
