Skipper bats for sidelined Saketh Myneni

Andhra Pradesh player Saketh Myneni will miss out in favour of Leander Paes
New Delhi: Under Anand Amritraj’s leadership, India’s Davis Cup team have had more wins than losses. And he is now ready with a set of experienced players to host top seeds the Czech Republic in the World Group play-offs starting here on Friday.
“As a team, we have matured. Everyone knows his duty much better now. Yuki (Bhambri) and Somdev (Devvarman) have given consistent performances recently in the singles. Leander (Paes) and Rohan (Bopanna) are coming with loads of experience and are guiding the youngsters,” said Amritraj here on Tuesday.
Andhra Pradesh player Saketh Myneni will miss out in favour of Leander Paes. The 63-year-old Davis Cupper did admit it’s unfair that Saketh has to warm benches when Paes plays at his convenience.
“It’s been unfair to Saketh in my personal opinion. He has been with us through thick and thin. Last year Chinese Taipei and Korea were really difficult matches, which Rohan and Saketh played and won. This time in New Zealand we did not win, we played a difficult match. He is a good team player but this is how life is. He’s accepted it which is great.”
