Back-to-back Grand Slam titles with the Khel Ratna sandwiched in between, tennis star Sania Mirza is savouring a special serve.
Back in the city after winning the US Open doubles, the Hyderabadi wants to keep tennis off her mind, for the next two days at least. Sister Anam is getting engaged on Wednesday and Sania wants to have a smashing time.
“Winning the US Open was great but the focus is completely different now. I am looking forward to the next couple of days. It’s one of the most important days of Anam’s life and also for the family, and we’re really excited about it,” Sania said after landing in the wee hours of Tuesday.
She couldn’t help but chuckle at her tight schedule though. “I am coming here just a day before as if I’m invited to the ceremony,” she laughed. “But I did not have a choice and I think I had a good enough reason.”
How much of energy does she have left? “I need all of it for the next two days,” Sania giggled. “It should be fine as long as I have enough to last four more weeks —have three more tournaments and the WTA Finals in Singapore to play,” she added as an afterthought.
