Karnataka: Second leg of BJP yatra from October 3

BJP has decided to conduct the second leg of the Yatra from October 3 to 11 at 51 places in Karnataka

Bengaluru: Following the success of Raitha Chaitanya Yatra, the BJP has decided to conduct the second leg of the Yatra from October 3 to 11 at 51 places in Karnataka.

After a two-day meeting of the BJP political affairs committee, state unit president Pralhad Joshi told mediapersons on Tuesday that during the second leg, the party will highlight the government's failure to handle power and drought related problems. This Yatra will start from Ballari and conclude in Nargund, he said.

The BJP had organized agitations against the state government on September 22 and 23 for its failure to provide uninterrupted power supply to the public and farmers. Now, the party has decided to resort to protests in front of electricity bill collection offices across the state. The party is also organizing an awareness programme about the Prime Minister Mudra Bank Yojana from October 3 to 11. BJP MPs, MLA and MLCs will educate the public regarding the utility of the scheme. Party members will co-ordinate with banks and persuade them to provide financial assistance to the needy under this yojana.

Mr. Joshi criticised the state government for its failure to handle the power crisis. Because of differences between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Energy minister D.K. Shivakumar, people have not been getting adequate power. The state is facing the worst power crisis ever, he said.

The state government has not released its fund for drought relief work, so for it has only utilized funds released from the Centre, he said.
