Website on academic certificates

The move was mooted last year after Nasscom representatives told KCR about fake certificates
Hyderabad: The Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) will set up a web portal to enable companies to check the authenticity of degrees. The move was mooted last year after Nasscom representatives told Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao about fake certificates.
Officials of the Telangana State Council of Higher Education held a meet with Hyderabad police commissioner M. Mahender Reddy on Tuesday.
Telangana State Council of Higher Education chairman Prof. T. Papi Reddy said the portal would be started this year itself.
Details of students graduating immediately would be put up online. Details of past students would be gradually added in due course to the database though no timeframe has been fixed for this purpose. “We were planning to start it last year but couldn’t do it. This year we will start the portal,” Prof. Papi Reddy said.
The server would be hosted by the Telangana State Council of Higher Education itself. In case a candidate is caught with fake certificates the police would be informed to track the source of the fake degrees, Prof. Papi Reddy said. Details of all alumni from graduates to post doctoral degree holders will be made available online. TSCHE will again hold a meet this week with commissioners of both Hyderabad and Cyberabad to discuss the issue.
