Tamil Nadu to set up 5 new ITIs

Chennai: Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Tuesday announced setting up of five new industrial training institutes in the state at a cost of Rs 45.97 crore to meet the demand for skilled workers.
The ITIs will be built at Orathanadu in Thanjavur, Viralimalai in Pudukottai, Sattur in Virudhunagar, Alathur in Perambalur and Tindivanam in Villupuram, she said in a suo moto statement in the Assembly.
About 1,000 students would benefit through the new ITIs which would also have hostel facility, she said adding that it would help meet skilled workers requirement in the state. “Tamil Nadu was ranked first on the industrial growth in a survey undertaken by Assocham in the country. The state leads in industrial production and job creation. There is a huge requirment for skilled labours,” she said.
