In talks to start Metro by 2016: Hyderabad Metro Rail
The government has to write to the Central government for railway safety clearance
Hyderabad: With the Metro works going on swiftly, there’s a continuous dialogue between Hyderabad Metro Rail, Larsen & Turbo and state government officers regarding the various steps needed to be taken to start the Nagole to Begumpet and Miyapur to S.R. Nagar routes by early 2016.
A senior L&T official said, “The government has to write to the Central government for railway safety clearance. That is the biggest hitch. Once we get that done, these two routes can be started.”
According to senior officers in HMR, the plans are in place as space for parking, beautification below the viaducts and also a survey on commuters travel schedules have been taken up, indicating that they only need a green signal from the government to begin operations. A senior state government official said, “There is a lot of persuasion from L&T to begin operations as that will give an idea of the functioning. The government is considering various options and maybe early 2016 could possibly be worked out.”
