Rajahmundry: 17-year-old girl rescued from well after 3 days

Some local youths spotted her on Tuesday

Rajahmundry: A 17-year-old girl was rescued from an abandoned waterless well after some local youths spotted her on Tuesday.

According to police, Godi Rajeswari of Subbaraopeta, who works at a paper-plate-making unit at Bommuru, was missing for the past week.

On Tuesday, some youngsters at Model Colony in VL Puram were trying to cut coconut tree fronds to decorate a Ganesh pandal. One of them peeped into thewell and found the girl. They alerted the police and fire fighters.

Police said the girl was found in a 30-feet-deep well which had an iron ladder from the top. Police suspects that the girl might have got into the well to drink water, and fell down as the ladder broke. “She might have been there for three to four days without food or water,” police said.
