Photocopier seized from Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner’s office
Bengaluru: A photocopy machine was taken away from the Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner’s office on Tuesday, following a court order for attachment of movable properties from the DC’s office.
Three Ameens (court officers) along with the complainant and his advocate went to the DC’s officer on Tuesday morning to execute the court order. The complainant, Venkataswamy M., had moved City Civil Court after the district administration had bulldozed five shops and three houses belonging to him in Chikkalasandra. Though there was a court order that the property belonged to him, the district administration in its drive against encroachment of government lands had razed the properties in August last year, causing him a loss of Rs 18 lakh
The owner had moved the court questioning the demolition by the district administration. As Mr V. Shankar, Deputy Commissioner of Bengaluru Urban district, and other respondents did not appear before the court, the judge had ordered for attachment of movable properties from the DC’s office in the order passed on July 24. The court had ordered to attach two Toyota Innova SUVs, two photocopy machines and 40 desktop computers from the DC’s office.
On Tuesday, three ameens of the court armed with the execution warrant of the court reached the DC’s office along with the police, complainant and the advocate. As soon as they visited, the drivers of the two SUVs escaped with the keys and a mahazar was done related to the two SUVs. The ameens took away a photocopy machine, while the staff of the office of the Special DC (Enforcement Cell) objected while they were picking up another machine.
“The staff requested that it would cause inconvenience if all the computers, which have data concerning the public, are taken away and sought some time. No computers were confiscated. We will inform the court on the developments,” Mr Narendra Gowda, advocate for the complainant, told Deccan Chronicle.
