New Melshanthi for Guruvayoor temple

Thrissur: Kavapramarath Narayanan Namboodiri has been selected as the melshanthi through a lucky draw on Tuesday. The 44-year old is becoming the Melshanthi for the first time. He had applied for the post 12 times earlier. A total of 51 persons have applied for the post this time and out of this the Guruvayoor Devaswom has selected 48 persons for the interview. Out of this 43 appeared for the interview on Tuesday. The names of the 43 were placed in silver vessel and the incumbent Melshanthi Moorkkannur Sreehari made the lucky draw. Narayanan Namboodiri will take charge after the Athazha Pooja on September 30. Before that he will have 12-day prayer session in the temple.
