Kumbh Mela: Cop jumps off 20-feet-high bridge to save man’s life

‘There was no other option. That was the only way to save him’

Nashik: In a touching act of humanity, a 24-year-old policeman jumped off a 20-feet-high bridge in Nashik to save a man from drowning.

According to reports, Manoj Barahate was on duty with his team at the ongoing Kumbh Mela in Nashik when a man, muttering to himself, jumped off the Amardham bridge.

While some onlookers tried to enter the water from under the bridge, without wasting any time Manoj took out his mobile phone and wallet and dived into the river.

When asked why he risked his life, Manoj said, “There was no other option. That was the only way to save him. I saw that there was no movement in the water after he jumped. So if I would have gone from under the bridge he would have lost his life.”
