Krishna panel: Centre picks Justice Rammohan Reddy
The Centre also informed the apex court that it was currently obtaining views from the states
Hyderabad: The Centre on Tuesday informed the Supreme Court that it had decided to nominate Justice Rammohan Reddy of the Karnataka HC to fill the existing vacancy in the Justice Brijesh Kumar Tribunal that was entrusted the task of settling water disputes among riparian states.
The Centre also informed the apex court that it was currently obtaining views from the states regarding the appointment of Justice Reddy as a member in the Tribunal and that it would complete the process in a week.
Members of the SC Bench, Justices Dipak Misra and Prafull C. Pant, while recording the central government’s affidavit on Tuesday, adjourned the matter for further hearing to September 30.
It may be mentioned that the AP government in 2013 and the Telangana state government in 2014, had filed Special Leave Petitions before the Supreme Court, objecting to the Justice Brijesh Kumar Tribunal’s award implementation.
