Kanan Devan refutes land grab charge

In a press release refuted the claims made by the state that huge extent of land was grabbed by it

Kochi: Kanan Devan Hills Plantations Ltd in a press release refuted the claims made by the state that huge extent of land was grabbed by it and the Tata Tea Ltd in Munnar.

V. Thangaraj, assistant manager of KDHP said the transfer by a foreign company, namely Kanan Devan Hills Produce Co. Ltd., in favour of Tata (Tata Finlay Ltd) is not illegal as Reserve Bank of India had accorded sanction on February 9, 1977. The entire stamp duty payable on the valuation approved by the RBI for such transfer was paid, and the documents were registered with the Sub-Registrar, Devicolam. The registration fee was also additionally paid for such registration, the release said.
