Araku receives 27 cm rain, Warangal gets 11 cm

Southwest monsoon is active over Telangana as well as Andhra Pradesh
Hyderabad: The IMD has sounded a heavy rainfall warning for five days for all districts of Telangana and Coastal Andhra Pradesh. For Rayalaseema, the heavy rainfall warning has been issued for September 17 to 19 — for the districts of Kurnool, Anantapur, Chittoor and Kadapa.
The southwest monsoon is active over Telangana as well as AP. In Andhra Pradesh, extremely heavy rainfall was recorded in Araku valley, it rained 27 cm in a single day, on Tuesday. Many areas of north coastal AP, districts of Vizag, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam experienced rainfall of six cm and more on Tuesday. However, only a few isolated places in other districts of Coastal AP experienced rain.
In Rayalaseema region on Tuesday, only Kurnool district experienced rainfall. For Wednesday, the IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places almost all over Coastal AP.
In Telangana, 11 cm of rainfall was recorded at Parkal in Warangal on Tuesday followed by 10 cm in Ramayampeta of Medak and Jukkal of Nizamabad. Rain was experienced across all districts in the state on Tuesday. For Wednesday, the IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places all over the state.
City receives light showers during the day:
While there were slight drizzles in Hyderabad during the day on Tuesday, towards the evening, certain areas like Nampally, Lakdi-ka-Pul and Tolichowki received heavy showers of short durations.
The city on the whole received 00.5 mm of rain up to 8 pm on Tuesday. A tree fell on a parked car near the Osmania General Hospital but no causalities were reported.
The maximum temperature recorded during the day was 28ºC, a three degree departure from normal. The minimum recorded was 22ºC. Indian Metrological Department authorities said that the temperatures would remain the same till Sunday thanks to the rains. Due to heavy breeze on Tuesday, several areas, especially around the Old City, witnessed power outages.
Lighting strikes 3:
Three women, including a degree first year student, were struck by lightning at Dupally village of Renjal mandal in Nizamabad district on Tuesday while they were working in their paddy fields.
Another woman who sustained serious injuries has been hospitalised in Nizamabad. Sources said the lightning occurred during a drizzle on Tuesday. After being alerted by locals, the police went to the spot and shifted bodies to the hospital for post-mortem. The police registered a case and is investigating.
Rains fill up Taliperu:
Incessant rains in Chhattisgarh have filled up the Taliperu reservoir in Charla mandal in Khammam district, following which officials opened 11 gates and released 18,000 cusecs of water into the Godavari. Rivulets like Chintavagu and Rotenthavagu are discharging flood waters into the Taliperu.
Medium irrigation projects like Mookamamidi, Wyra and Kinnerasani were also filling up. About 15 streams and rivulets including Godhumavagu and Murreduvagu in Kothagudem mandal, Masivagu and Aligeru in Bayyaram mandal, Kodipunjulavagu in Burgumpahad mandal were in spate.
