SCB staff get into scuffle, plaint filed

The situation became tense and the SCB employees’ union evicted everyone from the office and locked it down
Hyderabad: A junior assistant at the SCB Water department on Monday lodged a police complaint against Ward 8 member J. Lokanadham for manhandling him. An altercation over delays in granting water connections to residents who had already made payments in May this year led to the scuffle between the two at the SCB office. The situation became tense and the SCB employees’ union evicted everyone from the office and locked it down.
They have called for a total bandh of all emergency works like sanitation, water supply etc. from Tuesday. The Marredpally police registered a case under Section 355 of IPC (assault or criminal force with intent to dishonour a person, otherwise than on grave provocation) against the ward member.
Marredpally Inspector C. Umamaheshwar Rao said, “The complainant’s report stated that J. Lokanadham on Monday caught him by the collar and forced him to sign on water connection papers. The complant, P. Ramesh, refused to sign since it needed the authorization of the chief engineer of the water wing of SCB. After this the ward member manhandled the officer.”
The incident took place at around noon on Monday when the SCB CEO was not present. Mr Lokanadham, meanwhile denied manhandling the officer and said, “Several residents have made payments in May 2015 but no connection has been given”.
