Hyderabad: Bus passengers visiting the Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station can now access free wi-fi services while waiting for buses or in between changing of buses. The TSRTC managing director, G.V. Ramana Rao launched the Wi-Fi facility at the MGBS on Monday.
The facility will also be made available at the Jubilee Bus Station immediately. In a phased manner, it will be extended to major bus stations like Warangal, Karimnagar, Patancheru, Nalgonda, Khammam, Nizamabad, Mahabubnagar and Adilabad.
MGBS, where the facility was launched on Monday, is the biggest bus station in Telangana and daily 3,600 buses depart from this bus station, serving 1.2 lakh passengers each day. JBS caters to 40,000 passengers daily with around 1,200 buses each day.
“Considering the present-day requirements, TSRTC has taken the initiative of providing high speed internet connectivity (two mbps to 10 mbps) to the passengers waiting to board the buses at MGBS and JBS. For the same, 5G carrier grade Wi-Fi network has been established at the two bus stations. Passengers wishing to use this service will be provided a onetime usage for 15 minutes,” he said.
