The tribunal will bring justice to the door steps of military officers
Hyderabad: Cases pertaining to AP and TS will be moved from Chennai to Hyderabad Circuit bench for speedy resolution, said Justice Dilip B. Bhosale, Acting Chief Justice of the TS and AP High Court, during the inauguration of the Armed Forces Tribunal bench in Secunderabad.
Welcoming the move Justice Dilip B. Bhosale said there is a need for an AFT bench in Hyderabad and that this will reduce cases pending at the High Court. The tribunal will bring justice to the door steps of military officers. When the Chennai tribunal was set up 400 odd cases were transferred to Chennai and 75 of it were settled in a short span, he added.
Lt. Gen. Jagbir Singh, SM, VSM, GoC Dakshin Bharat Area, Chennai, said there is a need to create awareness among armed force personnel about their rights. Besides the Principal Bench at New Delhi, the AFT has regional benches at Chandigarh, Luck-now, Kolkata, Guwa-hati, Chennai, Kochi, Mumbai and Jaipur. The judicial members of the AFT are retired High Court judges while retired Lieutenant Generals constitute its administrative members.
