6-party combine to agitate from September 28

The Central and the Puducherry governments had failed to deliver on their promises

Puducherry: A six-party combine comprising CPI, CPI(M), RSP, VCK, MDMK and Manidha Neya Makkal Katchi would launch a nine-day long agitation in Puducherry and Karaikal regions from September 28 against “failures” of the NDA government at the Centre and the AINRC regime here.

The Central and the Puducherry governments had failed to deliver on their promises as the unemployment problem, inflation and also economic stagnation continued, CPI state committee Secretary R. Viswanathan told reporters at the end of joint meeting of leaders of the six parties.

There was therefore a need for a shift in the governance and for that the Left and the like-minded parties have evolved a plan to launch agitations, he said adding they intended to establish “a change in political environ” and to take care of the have-nots.

Referring to Andaman and Nicobar Islands Lt Governor Lt Gen (Retired) A K Singh holding additional charge of Puducherry, he said the absence of a full-fledged Lt Governor was a matter of concern.
