4 suspected Islamic State supporters detained in Kerala

The men were deported from UAE over their alleged links with the terror group

Thiruvananthapuram: Four youths suspected tobe having links with terror outfit Islamic State (IS) were detained when they arrived from Abu Dhabi early on Tuesday and are being questioned.

Sources said two of them arrived at Karipur airport and the other two at Thiruvananthapuram early today and were being interrogated by the state intelligence officials.

The four had been reportedly deported for their alleged terror links. In Malappuram, two persons were questioned two days ago and let off.

One of the youths being questioned today is the relative of the youth let off earlier.

Last week, Afsha Jabeen alias 'Nicky Joseph', who hails from Hyderabad was deported by UAE and subsequently arrested in Hyderabad for involvement in recruiting people for IS. The 37-year-old had been portraying herself as a British national while luring youth for IS through social media, officials said.

She was deported along with husband and children.
