2 Madhya Pradesh staff on CBI radar for Vyapam scam
New Delhi: The CBI, probing the multi-crore Vyapam scam, is also investigating the role of two senior officials of the state government for allegedly sharing confidential details, including roll numbers, of certain candidates appearing in a 2013 pre medical examination, with some middlemen.
Sources said, “The CBI investigations have revealed that the Vyapam scam involved collusion among candidates, government officials and middlemen. Undeserving candidates bribed the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) officials through middlemen to be seated strategically next to a brilliant dummy candidate, who was also paid money. The dummy candidate let them copy from his sheet or exchanged the sheet at the end of the exam. The role of two senior officials of the state education department is also being probed by the agency for allegedly favouring certain candidates appearing in a 2013 pre medical examination.”
Both officials will soon be called for questioning, sources said. It has also been found that the suspected officials allegedly leaked the answer key to the selected candidates, they added. The Supreme Court on July 9 had transferred the probe to the CBI.
