Bengaluru: Friend stabs habitual offender to death

A 23-year-old habitual offender was stabbed to death by his friend and an associate in Kalappa Block

BENGALURU: A 23-year-old habitual offender was stabbed to death by his friend and an associate in Kalappa Block in Srirampura police limits on Monday. The deceased, Sharan, was a resident of Saibaba Nagar. Sharan was involved in four theft cases in Srirampura, Subramanyanagar and other police stations. He was recently arrested by the police on charges of lifting a motorbike and was out on bail.

The accused, Alayat, who was with his associate – said to be a juvenile, fought with Sharan on Monday afternoon and stabbed him to death. Sharan had reportedly complained to Alayat’s mother that her son was involved in theft cases. She then admonished Alayat and warned him that she would hand him over to the police if the charges were found true.

“Alayat was upset that Sharan had wrongly accused him of being a thief and attempted to tarnish his image. Around 1.30 pm on Monday, he and his associate went to Sharan’s house in Kalappa Block and requested him to tell the truth to his mother. But Sharan, who was inebriated, refused to go along with Alayat and accused him of being a thief. A heated argument ensued and in a fit of rage, Alayat stabbed Sharan in the chest,” an investigating officer said.

Local residents rushed Sharan to Victoria Hospital, where he died in the evening. The Srirampura police have arrested Alayat, while his associate is still at large.
