Chennai Indian Idol contestant to concentrate on studies

Nityashree started learning music from the tender age of four
Chennai: Nityashree Venkataramanan arrived to a warm welcome at Chennai airport on Monday after becoming the first runner-up at this season’s Indian Idol Junior. Born and brought up in ‘Namma Chennai’, Nityashree has previously taken part in singing shows on Tamil channels but had wanted to show and prove her talent at the national level and therefore decided to give Indian Idol a go.
After receiving a standing ovation from the judges at her very first audition, there was nothing to stop 16-year-old Nityashree from becoming one of the main highlights of the show and receiving praise from several celebrity guests.
Nityashree started learning music from the tender age of four and has been singing professionally from the age of 6 with her father’s music troupe. Studying in class 12 at SBOA School in Anna Nagar, Nityashree said that her biggest task was getting the pronunciation right since she had very little knowledge of Hindi.
“I decided not to study Hindi because of an annoying Hindi teacher, but now it has become important for me to learn the language and I couldn’t have done so without the help of my trainers,” she said.
For her confidence and energising stage presence, Nityashree credited Vijay TV as being the main reason, since she participated in many shows on the channel and this gave her the motivation to audition for Indian Idol.
On being asked what was next, Nityashree said that apart from the concerts she was doing along with other Indian Idol finalists, what was more terrifying was the fact that her board exams were not far away. “I’m very happy that I won the show but now I need to work towards achieving good scores for my exams as well!”
