Watch: Self-styled Godman and religious teacher slap each other on live television

New Delhi: A Sunday night panel discussion on a popular Hindi news channel turned out to be anything but routine when a woman panellist, in the midst of a heated discussion, got up and slapped another panellist, a self-styled Godman, who goes by the name Om Ji.

In the beginning Om ji of the Hindu Mahasabha and woman astrologer Rakhi Bai are seen having sharp exchanges. The topic of discussion was ‘Radhe Maa’, who also happens to be a self-styled Godwoman.

Om ji is seen vehemently defending Radhe Maa, who is embroiled in a case of alleged domestic violence.

The discussion further heats up when Om ji goes on to tell a panellist, Deepa Sharma, that she should correct herself first before she points fingers at Radhe Maa. Om ji said that she should be the last one to speak as she had been living away from her husband for 20 years.

This is when Sharma had enough of Om ji’s accusations and warned him. He didn’t stop. Sharma walked up to him and slapped the self-styled Godman. Sharma’s slap was reciprocated by Om ji. It was now that other panellists intervened.

Meanwhile, the channel has condemned the incident.

“We invite responsible people to our shows and expect our guests to behave responsibly. We don't expect such behaviour from them and condemn it,” it said. N K Singh, general secretary of Broadcast Editors Association also disapproved of the incident.
