Two from Andhra Pradesh die in Mecca crane crash
Vijayawada: Among those who died in the accident at the Mecca Grand Mosque last week was a couple from Machilipatnam in Krishna district.
Khader, 38, and his wife Fatima Begum, 33, died on Friday afternoon in the accident after a powerful storm toppled a construction crane at the Masjid-al-Haram.
Their roommates identified their bodies and informed the Haj coordinator at Vijayawada on Sunday.
A pall of gloom descended over the English Palem area in Machilipatnam after the news came. Khader was the sole breadwinner of the family of six, including his parents and two children. This was his second visit to Mecca this year.
