Jitan Ram Manjhi's son detained with cash by Bihar Police

Ex-CM’s son was travelling with unaccounted money
Patna: Police sources said they intercepted former Bihar chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi’s son Praveen Manjhi in a car at a checkpost in Jehanabad and recovered Rs 4.65 lakh from him while he was on his way to Patna.
An official said he was taken to Mukhdumpur for questioning where he was detained after they found him giving “conflicting statements”.
The Hindustani Awam Morcha has refuted the police’s allegations again-st Mr Manjhi’s son, saying it was an effort by the JD(U) and RJD to defame Mr Jitan Ram Manjhi. “JD(U) and RJD are trying to defame Mr Manjhi by making such allegations as they are scared of his popularity among the masses,” Hindustani Awam Morcha spoke-sperson Danish Rizwan said.
He alleged that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has placed several yes men in key posts in order to defame his rivals by lodging fake cases against them.
The HAM allegation irked the JD(U). Leaders of the grand secular alliance, demanding an immediate investigation of the matter, said, “It’s important for HAM to reveal the source of the amount he was carrying.”
JD(U) spokesperson Ajay Alok, reacting, said “The allegation against our party is baseless as the code of conduct is in effect in the state after polls were announced so there is no interference by our party in these things. But since he has been caught with cash, the police should investigate the matter.”
