IMD predicts heavy rains for 5 days
Heavy showers have been predicted for the Twin Cities for the next five days
Hyderabad: Heavy showers have been predicted for the Twin Cities for the next five days. A city IMD official said, “Currently, the conditions are very favourable. The low pressure over the Bay of Bengal will increase the rainfall in the city.”
On September 10, incessant rains were forecast for the Twin Cities for the next one week, but it hasn’t rained since then. There were light showers late in the evening on Sunday for less than an hour. After the heavy showers that lashed the city for almost a week, there has been a lull of two days despite the IMD predicting heavy rains in the city. “The last two days were dull, but rains along with thundershowers will again lash the city. The sky will remain cloudy for the coming week,” the official said.
Despite only “traces” of rainfall, the badly damaged roads caused traffic jams at major junctions. Traffic movement was very slow in Kukatpally area due to road works. Potholes near the Kukatpally Y junction were being repaired on Sunday. There were traffic snarls near Mehdipatnam, Gachibowli, near ECIL-X roads, Mettuguda, Lakdikapul etc.
