25-year-old ‘needle man’ held

Some neighbours said the youth, Suresh, was not at fault
Hyderabad: A 25-year-old youth has been arrested after parents of a three-year-old girl complained that he attacked her with a syringe. Neighbours who heard the girl’s mother shouting at the youth caught him. While trying to escape, the youth bit the hand of one person before he was handed over to the police.
Some neighbours said the youth, Suresh, was not at fault. He noticed the girl playing with the syringe and only alerted her mother. The woman however grew suspicious and alleged that he applied the syringe on the girl. She made a hue and cry, these neighbours said.
“Kavya is the only daughter of Pandu, a civil contractor, residing near Pochamma temple in Indiran agar. Suresh is a native of Kadapa district. He was staying at a private hostel, but shifted to the present location three months ago. He was staying with his friends Nageshwar Rao and Bharath Kumar some five houses away from the girl’s house,” police said.
Police sent the girl for medical examination to Niloufer Hospital.
“We are waiting for the medical report, which can tell us if the girl was injured with a syringe. Based on the report, we will proceed further,” said Banjara Hills inspector of police, Murali Krishna. However, doctors said after necessary examination that the girl was not injured and safe. However, a case has been registered.
