Kochi: More than 1,200 budding entrepreneurs chosen from various colleges, incubators as well as those who have launched their startup companies attended the Yes CAN summit the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) organised in Kochi on September 12, which the state has been celebrating as ‘Entrepreneurship Day’ since 2012.
They spent the day listening to talks by some of the best names in venture capital and angel investing industry, mentors and organisations that have been working towards promoting a culture of entrepreneurship in the country.
Success stories of startups were also played out to encourage the young minds wanting to take the startup route.
Eminent personalities from across the country took part in the various sessions. Mr Rahul Narayan, founder and Tech Lead, Team Indus, started the sessions sharing his experiences as an entrepreneur.
Speakers in panel discussion on ‘angel financing for entrepreneurs’ that followed the talk said that money is not an impediment for startups as a lot of investors from foreign nations are investing in startups in the country. The speakers included Mr Arvind Mathur, president, Indian Private Equity and Venture Capital Association, Ms Padmaja Ruparel.
The Entrepreneurs Talk session saw three successful student entrepreneurs - Mr Sidharth Shetty, architect of a crowd-funding platform, Mr Shreyans Jain, co-founder of a media platform for entrepreneurs, creators and innovators and Mr. Aditya Bandi, co-founder of Tech Startup, Bookpad – sharing their experiences.
