Seized by RTO, Delhi techie’s vehicle goes missing!
BENGALURU: Vehicles seized by RTO officials may not be safe with the RTO department.
In a bizarre incident, a techie, Rahul Pandey, was flagged down by RTO authorities on August 24 for riding a motorbike with Delhi registration number. His two-wheeler was seized by the RTO officials, who were conducting a special drive against such vehicles, and kept at a BMTC depot.
But now, the vehicle has gone missing, and RTO and BMTC depot officials have filed a complaint with the Indiranagar police station stating that a Delhi registered bike seized by the RTO has been stolen. They have stated in the complaint that the bike should be recovered as it has to be handed over to Mr Pandey.
BMTC officials, confirming the report, said that they have written a letter to RTO authorities stating that the vehicle came in on August 24, but the rider, Mr Pandey, took it away though the main door was locked.
But BMTC officials have taken 10 days to inform the RTO officials, raising suspicion against BMTC depot authorities. When Mr Pandey demanded his bike, BMTC authorities allegedly offered to replace his bike and requested him not to file a complaint, sources said.
The RTO authorities have written a mail slamming BMTC depot officials for their negligence and reporting the incident ten days later.
Deputy Commissioner, Indiranagar (Transport), Mr Mallikharjun, questioned why the vehicle that was seized to collect road tax was allowed to go out. He has sought a detailed report on the lapses by BMTC depot authorities.
